Shapes - Saul Bass Inspired
Taking in to account of my artist style, i have moved on by developing as well as experimenting with new things. Having reference of artist styles, such as Kruger (colours) and Bass’ use of bold colours and shapes, i decided to go practical by creating what i call, ‘ninja stars’ with coloured paper(household item). Using straight foward coloured paper as well as plain, i have folded and connected the shapes in specific ways in order to get this outcome. The outcome turned out decent but i strongly believe it can be improved in terms of accuracy of the folding to give a more sharp look. However, i do like the outcome of it as it reminds of a more action adventured-like film that i have watched over and over again that involes no other than ninjas and assassins. The use of colour really differentiate of that as well, as it you would associate dark colours with ninjas however, the bold colours that are used differ, giving out a really warm feeling, which makes me feel like home as it is probably the only place where anyone would find peaceful and warm, having reference to the actual home aswell *HOUSEHOLD but not items, haha*, everything is interlinked, which is why i enjoy art.

Further Development
I explored even further by challenging myself to make an object/sculpture from simple shapes, inspired by bass that could be in relevance to my theme, household items. Below, are images of my final design of my development. Here i created a swan, just by using lottery tickets. i must say, it took a very long time in creating as it was difficult to actually visualise how i want the swan to look like and turn out. Also, having reference of minimalistic work, i atempted to make the swan as simple as i could just so i wont get confused and make complications for myself. I am very happy in the way it turned out! an achievment that i will most certain take on in the future of designing. I have an authentic way of thinking towards this outcome as it doesnt really give out an up to date contemporary sense but more of a archaic mind. In terms of thinking, this to me, links to how now in society was obviously influenced by the society that was back in the past where art in general was built up in to how it is now, so having reference or elements to the history of something can really important as well. The use of lottery tickets was a really good idea as it gives out a more textured and layered effect rather than just plain paper for example that doesnt have detailed design, hence being plain!
Close-up shot of the outcome - texture, edgy look (bass inspired)
Segment piece of the outcome, showing the connections.
A single and simple triangular piece, initial start.

Now, i can officially use this within my house as a display! Thus, being a household item!
